Who is this survey for?
This survey is for NAATI-credentialed translators (NAATI certified practitioners and NAATI recognised practitioners) who:
- translate documents from LOTE --> English for Australia-based recipients, and the translations are for immigration, work, study, health or other purposes; and
- translate documents from English --> LOTE that originate from Government to inform the CALD communities about health, social welfare services, COVID-19, etc.
This survey is also for NAATI-credentialed interpreters that Language Service providers (LSPs) engage:
- as contractors (freelance), and/or
- as casual employees
to interpret in community settings, e.g. courts and tribunals, hospitals and GP surgeries, schools, social welfare services, etc.
If you are a NAATI certified translator or NAATI recognised practising translator, please respond only to the questions in Part A.
If you are a NAATI certified interpreter or NAATI recognised practicing interpreter please respond only to the questions in Part B.
Please respond to parts A and B if you have credentials both in translating and interpreting.
Why are you receiving this survey?
The purpose of this survey is for AUSIT to elicit from practitioners how much they are being paid for their work and to find out whether practitioners believe that the amount they receive for this work is fair. This information will help AUSIT further its campaign in relation to pay rates for translators and interpreters.
Confidentiality
This survey is anonymous. You are not asked to supply your name. The survey asks you about the language(s) you work in. We ask this question because pay rates can vary according to language pair.
Thank you in advance for your participation.
