AUSIT strongly encourages all Australian translators and interpreters to complete the survey launched by the Department of Home Affairs to ascertain the sustainability of our profession. Your answers to questions in the survey will help the Department make sure that in future there are enough interpreters and translators to meet the needs of the Australian community including those with low English proficiency. Please go to https://lnkd.in/g3mBGzWy to participate in this survey. The survey will be open until 5pm, 30 June 2023 and is expected to take up to 25 minutes to complete.

Very, very sad situation when the education department in a State that tirelessly sells itself as the epitome of multiculturalism (Flemington Towers saga included), produces a machine translated ad that says "Nominations for the awards of the Victorian Age early years are now open" - one can safely conclude that they are open into some time machine. Was that AI? Or just an uncertified, untrained sod pretending to be a translator? @Victorian Department of Education (oh, you guys don't have a LinkedIn account? How convenient!) Thank you, my wonderful RMIT students, for picking all this interesting examples of a failed multiculturalism.
