AUSIT is pleased to invite all Japanese interpreters and/or translators to join this online discussion.

The online discussion offers a conducive and interactive environment, particularly during COVID, for all members and non-members to get to know their colleagues and exchange ideas and tips on how to navigate uncharted territory.  The discussion will cover the following topics:

  • Zoom tactics for Japanese interpreters
  • Idioms and Sayings (bring your favourite saying and its translation)
  • Favourite online resource corner
  • General problems discussion
  • Uncharted territory: How to deal with regional place names and historic names


Facilitator
  David Shield

David Shield is a recent graduate of the University of Queensland's Master of Arts in Japanese Interpreting and Translation (MAJIT) program. He spent many years working as a translator and interpreter for Oyama City council in Japan where he specialised in public policy. In 2019, he was the winner in the Japanese stream for the inaugural AUSIT Translation Competition. He now works as a freelance Japanese to English translator.

Please NOTE this is a live webinar and you must log in and register to attend at the date and time advised.  Registrants will be provided with an access link to join two days before the event.

Please NOTE this is a language-specific meeting. The facilitator/moderator, audience and other participants may use LOTE (i.e. Japanese) at different stages of the discussion or the entire online meeting.
