EXTENDING YOUR SIGHT TRANSLATION SKILLS
Sight Translation (ST) is oral translation of a written text, which interpreters may be asked to provide as part of their duties. This workshop is designed to build on the knowledge and skills discussed in Workshop One and to extend the proficiencies of practising interpreters. This workshop will review ST and its use in community and other interpreting settings, with an examination of typical settings and texts. Participants will be trained in accurate and effective ST strategies, with ample opportunity provided for sight translation practice of representative medical and legal sight translation texts in breakout groups.
There will be time at the end for a short Q & A session.
