EXTENDING YOUR SIGHT TRANSLATION SKILLS

Sight Translation (ST) is oral translation of a written text, which interpreters may be asked to provide as part of their duties.

This workshop is designed to build on the knowledge and skills discussed in Workshop One
and to extend the proficiencies of practising interpreters.

This workshop will review ST and its use in community and other interpreting settings. Strategies for developing glossaries for use in common interpreting ST settings will be provided. Participants will be trained in accurate and effective ST, with the second half of the webinar devoted to applying basic ST techniques to common forms and documents. There will be opportunity for ST practice in small groups.

There will be time at the end for a short Q & A session.

*(Workshop Two will extend your sight translation skills and provide more practice. Beginner interpreters are advised to take Workshop One before Workshop Two).
