Dear Colleague

Have you ever wondered what is the difference between revision, editing and proofreading or how much to correct depending on the brief received from clients? There appears to be no consistent approach in the translation industry to checking and revising other people’s translations. This frequently leads to issues such as misunderstanding the client’s brief, inconsistent terminology, and disagreements about language choices, whether syntactical, lexical, genre- or register-related, and the list goes on. In this regard, there are several factors to consider.

In this webinar we will talk about:

• revision and proofreading as essential steps in the translation process,
• difference between proofreading, editing and revision,
• different levels of revision,
• objective and subjective aspects of revision,
• following clients’ guidelines,
• quality control,
• use of translation memories,
• checklist for revision,
• free tools to help our translations sound as natural as possible.
