EARLY BIRD SPECIAL PRICING ENDS NEXT THURSDAY 30 JUNE
AT 12 NOON. Be QUICK!!
In keeping with tradition of previous conferences held in Brisbane, the AUSIT Conference Organising Committee warmly welcomes ASLIA QLD as collaborators for this year's conference!
The Conference will be held at the beautiful St. Lucia campus of our sponsor, The University of Queensland, in Brisbane on 25-26 November 2022, as well as online. So even if you can’t make it to the Sunshine State, you will still be able to attend and participate.
Please note the AUSIT National AGM will take place on Saturday 26 November 2022.
The theme this year is:
REBUILD & BELONG
EVOLUTION - TRANSFORMATION - GROWTH
The conference will offer participants a forum to discuss practical and theoretical issues relating to the T&I profession, focusing on rebuilding and re-connecting after two long years of the disruption of the COVID-19 pandemic. We will be exploring the issues of:
- Cultivating connections with colleagues – camaraderie, team building.
- Self-growth – adaptation, professional skills, value propositions, new mindset, new focus.
- Joining forces with other professions – new opportunities, relationships with other stakeholders.
- Engaging with community - current issues affecting community translation and interpreting.
- Innovation in the world - the industry in the post-pandemic world, accessibility, new technologies, new advances.
Program – The program will be made available in August. Rest assured, we have an impressive list of keynote speakers lined up to deliver presentations that are both interesting and relevant to practitioners, academics and industry stakeholders. The program will include keynote presentations by Prof. Felicity Meakins, Prof. Liu Min-hua and Prof. Pablo Romero Fresco. Further information will be released shortly on the impressive list of keynote speakers that have already been secured by the organising committee.
We know that many practitioners have done it tough over the last two years due to COVID-19 and we understand that many are still recovering. For this reason, AUSIT has decided to make this year’s conference fees affordable and enticing to ensure that as many of our members as possible are able to attend. It is thanks to our wonderful sponsors who have generously come on board that we are able to offer this opportunity.
Our deepest appreciation goes to our first confirmed sponsors The University of Queensland, Congress Rental, NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters), ASLIA (Australian Sign Language Interpreters' Association), Lexigo, Conversations: Interpreting and Translating (All Graduates), Rounded, All About Languages, 2M Language Services, The LOTE Agency, DS5 Translations, Ethnolink, Macquarie University, Memsource and BEDA (Brisbane Economic Development Agency).
For those attending in person, a Gala Dinner will be held on Friday, 25th November, at the stunning Westin hotel. Please join us for an evening reconnecting with colleagues, and meeting new ones, while enjoying beautiful food and great entertainment in a thoughtfully designed space that celebrates Brisbane’s laid-back sophistication.
AUSIT/ASLIA/NZSTI Members make the most of the package deal (conference + gala dinner) that we have put together. Places at the gala dinner are limited, so make sure you register asap to avoid disappointment.
