This is PART 2
of a two-part webinar workshop conducted by experienced disability advocates Kit Yuan, James Murphy and Angela Duigan who will lead participants through these following topics:


  • What is the NDIS - its complexities and acronyms.
  • The situation of refugees/asylum seekers, visa holders and NDIS access.
  • Early childhood intervention and the role of the interpreter.
  • Reasonable and necessary supports – some scenarios  involving the interpreter in complex conversations.


Presenters

Kit Yuan

Kit is a Disability Royal Commission Advocate, CALD engagement officer and interpreter workshop project officer at the Disability Rights Advocacy Service. He has a Laws and Legal Practice degree, an honours degree in Psychology and a Graduate Diploma in Social Science (Counselling Studies).

He has experience with engaging CALD people with disability to talk about the Disability Royal Commission and working with interpreters to talk to CALD clients about a range of disability advocacy matters. He also has experience with helping people with mental health issues socially integrate into society and providing support to people with mental health issues.

James Murphy

James is a Disability Royal Commission Advocate and disability advocate at the Disability Rights Advocacy Service. He has a Laws and Legal Practice degree and a Graduate Diploma in Education.

He has vast experience with teaching at various secondary and tertiary institutions. He is currently a law lecturer and tutor at Flinders University. James also has experience with working with interpreters and helping CALD people with disability with a range of disability advocacy matters.

Angela Duigan

Angela is the Disability Royal Commission Coordinator and senior disability advocate at the Disability Rights Advocacy service. She was chief of staff for the former State Minister for Disability and senior advisor to the former Premier of South Australia, Mike Rann.

She has vast experience with helping CALD people with disability with a range of advocacy matters like NDIS appeals and Disability Support Pension appeals and working with interpreters.
