Pre-AGM Presentation

The Australian Government Translation and Interpreter Service (TIS National) has generously made available two guest presenters to speak prior to the Annual General Meeting of AUSIT ACT.

Our guest speakers’ presentation will be on the theme 'The Challenge of Providing Language Services in the Era of COVID-19' and will cover topics including:

Changes in demand for interpreting (eg increase in phone, less onsite)
TIS agency requirements (PPE, social distancing)
Wellbeing initiatives (EAP, mindfulness)
Future directions (Video interpreting)

Following their presentation there will be an opportunity for some questions and answers.

Presenters

Joanne Ogilvie - Manager Interpreter Liaison, Citizenship and TIS Branch / Citizenship and Multicultural Program Division, Citizenship, Social Cohesion and Multicultural Programs, Australian Government Department of Home Affairs. Joanne has worked with the Department of Home Affairs, Customs background, for 23 years. She recently commenced in the role as Manager Interpreter Liaison at the end of March at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. Joanne has moved to TIS National from the People Services Division of the Department and has many years experience across the broad range of Border roles.

Amelia Taylor - Interpreter Liaison Officer, Translating and Interpreting Service (TIS National), Citizenship and TIS Branch \ Citizenship and Multicultural Program Division, Citizenship and Social Cohesion Group, Australian Government Department of Home Affairs.Amelia has worked for the Department for 10 years and with TIS National for the last 5 years. She has experience as the Shift Supervisor, Pre-booked Services Supervisor and most recently as an Interpreter Liaison Officer where she holds the portfolio of Interpreter Liaison Support and Feedback Supervisor.

Please note that this event is open to people living in the ACT, not just AUSIT financial members.

The AUSIT ACT Annual General Meeting will follow this event. Please register for that separately.
