Understanding what a testamentary will is, what it isn’t, and how it operates to translate and interpret with confidence

Following our inaugural meeting where we had an informal discussion and gathered your feedback, we are excited to invite all AUSIT members working in the English/Spanish language combination to our second event of the year. As voted by the majority during our first meeting, we have organised an online workshop as our first formal Spanish Division event.

In this workshop, we will look at the Anglo-Australian will, exploring the writing style, commonly used clauses, and construction in order to better understand how to tackle a translation or interpreting assignment effectively.

The presentation, aimed at both translators and interpreters, will be delivered mainly in Spanish. Participants are asked to send any queries or challenging examples of an Australian will, duly redacted, to angelo@amicuscuriaelegaltranslations.com before 8pm on Friday 24 May 2024.

To make the most of the workshop, participants are also encouraged to prepare in advance by familiarising themselves with the Spanish terminology commonly used in wills.

This is an interactive session, and the presenter has requested that participants be given advance notice that they will be requested to turn their cameras on.
