REGISTRATIONS NOW CLOSED

In this practical workshop, participants will learn about how to approach sight translation when working in legal settings, including:

  • Common text types you might be asked to sight translate
  • The limitations of sight translation and when to recommend written translation
  • Ethical considerations when asked to sight translate a text
  • Recommendations for best practices for sight translation
  • Sight translation practice

This workshop is designed for interpreters who:

  • Have received only limited training on sight translation
  • Want to expand their services into legal settings, and build skills and confidence in this area
  • Have CPI and aim to upgrade their certification to CI

A survey will be circulated closer to the event and provide participants with an opportunity to raise topics they'd like covered during the workshop.

Participants are welcome to bring their own laptop or notebook to take notes during the workshop.
