Take your interpreting skills to the next level with this hands-on workshop, specifically tailored for interpreters looking to deepen their expertise in sight translation within legal settings. Whether you're looking to grow your confidence, broaden your services, or work towards CI certification, this workshop offers invaluable insights and practical training.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Key text-types: Explore the most common documents encountered in legal environments for sight translation.
  • Understanding limitations: Know when to recommend a full written translation over sight translation to ensure accuracy and professional integrity.
  • Ethical dilemmas: Discuss how to navigate the ethical challenges of sight translation in real-life scenarios.
  • Best practices: Learn expert tips and techniques to elevate your sight translation skills.
  • Hands-on practice: Engage in sight translation exercises designed to simulate legal settings, giving you the opportunity to apply what you've learned in a supportive environment.
  • Networking session: The final 30 minutes of the event will be dedicated to informal networking, giving you the chance to expand your professional circle and share experiences.

This workshop is ideal for interpreters who:

  • Have limited formal training in sight translation.
  • Are eager to expand into legal interpreting and build confidence in this high-demand area.
  • Hold a CPI certification and are working towards upgrading to CI.

Prior to the event, you’ll receive a survey where you can suggest specific topics or challenges you’d like to see addressed.

Bring along your laptop or notebook to capture key takeaways during the session.

Spaces are limited, so be sure to register early to secure your spot.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to enhance your skills and advance your interpreting career in legal settings!
